Living in LA (the Covid way)

January 17, 2021

If someone had told me in the beginning of 2020 that we would be in a 3 month lockdown and in the middle of a pandemic, I would’ve definitely reconsidered moving to Los Angeles. However, now that I’ve done it I’m very glad that I did.

Emotions run high during times like these. How am I going to make money? When can I go outside? How long do I have to wear this mask? How come i’m feeling chest pains? I have to wear a mask while I work? When will I find another job? The questions I asked myself carried so much weight and affected so much more than I realized.

If there’s one thing (a few for sure), that i’m grateful for was the challenge of living in LA during all of this. The challenge of being in close, city quarters but also the challenge of being around people determined to find balance and resolution for their life.

Living in LA, or any major city, is hard but I think the pressure of this time helped to figure out a lot of things. Why am I angry all the time? Why am I depressed? What kind of photography do I want do? Who do I want to work for? Who can I stand up to? Why should I stand up for myself?

I’ve been getting exactly what I’ve been needing ot of this time. I hope you are too, wherever you’re at.
